I'm waiting Also somebody said something about Civ3 files at Aokh and no one seemed to follow that up. Okay here is my take on MPS vs MWS: Most basic things MWS does easier and better hands down. If you have an slp and need to use it, it is better. If you have frames and want to turn them into an slp it is ten times better. It also gets rid of the nightmarish Modpack, replacing it with the far more professional approach of a installer. I can't say though it totally replaces MPS, as there are things MPS still does best. Anchors for one example. I don't think I will ever use a modpack again in my own work, but I will still use MPS on occasion I thin to do certain tasks, like anchors and a few palette functions. Also, MPS is quicker for just checking what a slp will look like in aok, without making a whole installer. So the position I am in is I will use both, but most simple things will be done with MWS, and the final product of course will not be in MPS modpack form. But I think you have succeeded in making MWS the standard program, and relegated MPS to being more of an aid. As far as the flc thing, can you explain to me what exactly you need?

Yes that was the intention. It is a supplement, not a replacement. However the mod forum seems quite dead and I don't think it will catch up too soon. I forgot actually, some guy posted a noobish thread on Aokh and said something about flc files and then no one followed it up. Could you have a look at that? aok.heavengames.com/cgi-bin/aokcgi/display.cgi?action=ct&f=9,37789,,10 Oh, and I'd be much obliged if you'd do a review

Okay, Jatayu, I followed your instructions, here's a screenshot of what happened a minute after typing in your commands:

Ok cool, that means you didn't have any problems. Now try to run something, eg:
java slpreadermain java slpwritermain
(Use the examples as given in the readme file )

Both the SLP Reader and SLP Writer open up fine when using the commands, however, I was unable to load SLP files. Perhaps I didn't follow the instructions in the readme?

No, that's actually all right. The discrepancy comes about because of the / and \ in unix and windows respectively. I'll upload the linux version and that should work fine. Coming to the next part: Can you install any of the exe modpacks eg this on your Mac using Wine ( or however you want to do it )

I should note again that I don't actually have the Mac version of AoK (I'm running that natively in Windows on its own partition). If you're looking to see if it'll mod the AoK for Mac, I can't help you there.
That, and I don't have Wine installed at the moment (I don't really need it).

I honestly don't really know, but if your interests are in the people who visit AoKH, I am probably the only one (aside from the random few, but the numbers are small nonetheless).

In a short while you might be seeing a GUI version of Mod Workshop.

That is good. Though, I had no problem with command lines. Except that it required more work to write paths.
