To be honest, I don't think I've really played any of Great Emperor or CerberusXXL's work. Actually the person I would most like to see something from is Philip Dunscombe. To my knowledge he never created a campaign, but instead invented many tricks. I think it would be interesting to see a scenario from him.

I've played all games by the designers up there (with exception for Cerberus' games, which I never finished). I believe Ingo has done more than I thought a designer could accomplish, and Great Emperor has done a good work with his as well. My choise would be between Lightning & Thunder and Sabato Lives, in which my longings for SL are stronger (have been waiting for it eagerly ever since I tested Sabato Returns, one of the first campaigns I ever downloaded) It would be very interesting to see what Phillip can come up with. I haven't seen him in action and I wasn't here, not have evn heard of then site, when he was active. Playing one of his games would be a new experiense.

My choice would be Shadows, formerly of AOK Dragon (which is now obsolete to my knowledge). His Swallowed Realms seires are the ones that inspired me the most, and motivated me to start designing scenarios.
CerberusXXL's The Last Samurai series is a great one, folks. I assure you, you shall regret that you have never played it in your life. ;D

I wasn't all that keen on the Swallowed Realm. It went a bit far into high fantasy for my tastes. Stuff needs to be of really fantastic quality for me to persevere it goes for the uncensored dragons galore approach. Probably why I never finished Lord of the Rings.

I thought "fantastic" is a good word.

Yes, but for me it wasn't fantastic, and it needs to be for me to like something with that much fantasy. (Purple moons shooting fire?)

Well, I wouldn't make a fantasy campaign in that "fantastic" kind of way, but more like a "wow, that's fantastic!!" kind of way.
Actually, I didn't like SR because of the story. I favored it for being fun to play, and for introducing some brand new gameplay at the time, such as random generated units, finding weapons and items, etc.

Same, the story was okay and well told, but it wasn't absolutely wonderful.

If you just use your imagination you can combine what's actually there with the atmosphere and style and create an absolutely wonderful story inside your head. SR allows you to do that, although it still tells a rich and adventurous story, being why I like it so much

Agreed. Though some parts are indeed too absurd, such as the one Julius mentioned (purple moons shooting fire to the ground).

I was talking about Sabato Returns Oh well, the Swallowed Realm series never appealed to me. I only started playing the first but never felt like finishing it

Same.
Also, the randomly generated units were just annoying. I never finished that particular scenario.

I have played Sabato Returns but never finished it lol. I will one day when I can be buggered. In addition Ingo has had a marevlous design "career" there on AOKH, and as much as I'd like to see When the Wheel Breaks completed, I have other hopes. Great Emperor sounds familiar but I can't remember any of his scenarios. Care to refresh anyone? Cerberus once commented on my first scenario ever. I enjoyed his samurai scenarios and would love to see the third one completed but again I have hopes elsewhere. I think there is still a good chance oliver will get Lightning and Thunder completed. He still designs occasionally and is still strong in the community, albeit with those AoE III bastards! Swallowed Realms is unreal. I love the atmosphere, the rather vague story lol, and just the feel of it all. It'd be a gem for the author to return with something. Still I have hopes elsewhere. So who could I possibly have such hopes for? Why Crasher of course! Not only is he my most favourite designer, with his awesome style of map design and ability to create beautiful and realistic atmosphere, but I don't think he has ever made a bad scenario (on the Blacksmith). I would love for him to return with a completed Immortal Prey scenario. I am so very eagre for it I think I'd just die if he were to leave permanently. A few at DGDN said he was still working on it, though he was just busy as this time of the year was usually when people went back to school and work. He'd better have it at the Blacksmith by late this year or early next!

'Vlad Dracula' is the only one that comes to mind.
Yeah, Crasher is one marvelous designer. Out of all the contestants in ACSC, Immortal Prey was the only one that I felt the "I was there" experience. The dialogues and narrations aren't the only things that caught my attention. Somehow, his style of map design really brings up the dark atmosphere. I don't know how he managed to do that, and I'd be dying to know.
Pity that it's rather uncertain if he'll finish the whole campaign.

Indeed, Crasher's a great designer. I dont think I've played any of his games, with an exception for Attack at Dawn (or whatever the title was, I dont remember; it was quite long ago) but his cut-scene truly deserved to win.
Great Emperor made two great scenarios; Vlad Dracula and The Way of the Warrior, both of them being favourites of mine.

That's right, Vlad Dracula. That is a cool, dark scenario. Yes, Crasher somehow brings out the mood in his scenarios with almost unflinching perfection. Attack at Dawn, the first of his scenarios I played back in my n00bs days, really caught my attention. After that I played some others of his, including one of his pretty town contest entries, A Different World. I would HONESTLY recommend all to download that! It is probably the most beautiful scenario I have come to witness. The mood is such that it is very sad and the story that comes with it is so very immersing. I loved it. I should review.

I often have problems reviewing the scenarios I love most. I'm not certain why, but probably because it would be too much promotion and too little review. This is the reason I haven't reviewed neither Ulio nor Sabato Returns yet.

In my knowledge, you, being a reviewing machine, owe everyone a review.

Matt, I'll rub it in abit more by saying about 9 months ago I played IP by Crash. It was about 90% done but because it was wasn't completely done I couldn't finish. (I got right to the end or what was made so far) I promised Crash I wouldn't leak anything. Screenies or the story line. I am one of 4 or 3 I believe that may be the only ones to ever see the masterpiece. It is truely amazing and will deffinatly be in the top 3 finest campaigns ever. I just hope you are all able to see it.

You're right, you did just rub it in... I know it will be amazing, how about you email him and tell him to move his arse and finish it! Also, tell him the Prime Minister said that. Damn, I hope he finishes it. I really do. He is such a talented designer.

I'll moan at him again when I see him next. He's always busy with work so It's hard for him to design. He WILL deffinatly finish it. If he pushes him self he could have it done in weeks. He can not find that time or energie though. It'll be out
