I'm currently wondering if this would be of any use or whether it would again be met by shrill cries of 'Ooo I hate mods..' Based on a discussion going on in the forum, I added 4 'new terrains'. Well actually since it's not possible to add terrains with our current knowledge of genie files, I just modified 4 which I think no one will miss- shoreless dirt 2, shoreless snow dirt, old-grass and koh-flag ground. I figured nobody uses them anyway. shoreless dirt 2 -> Volcanic rock terrain shoreless snow dirt-> brown stony ground old-grass -> space terrain koh-flag ground -> lava I can put it on the blacksmith maybe. It doesn't change any of the terrains in the editor, or even the uncommon ones like shoreless water , walkable bridge water and sailable ice which are sometimes used.

No use to me, but definitely a good idea. You should release it to the Blacksmith. You're putting our other modder to shame.

Nice! What are those white snow-like shards in the corner? Those are beautiful.

Snow-like shards? That is the starry sky terrain.

I should post a few dat editing tricks I have come up with that will blow your mind Most of my efforts are aimed along the cinematic lines of modding, which means I have to actually finish something to show them. Oh, anyone know a free video capture software? I kind of need a video to show this one trick.

While we're on that, I was quite impressed by some of the tricks your brother pulled off.. especially that sword with an explosion thing. I'm guessing that was a projectile with 0 range that had a dead unit of the petard. The fire vessels and the attack-defense thingys and the stone fort were cool too.
There are many free vid. softwares you can get by googling, though most of them are like demos and give you only 10 trials or something.

My mind is pretty sturdy. Try me. You might just get a "mildly impressive, but not worth the effort". Then finish something, pronto. How about a little preview cinematic?

Yah, well who do you think he learned this all from The cave entrance and the gold piles were my ideas I 'sold' to him. The sword he thought of, I made possible

I'm still wondering where the gold pile came from. Obviously I could look it up but I can't guess offhand.
How many of you use the following non-editor terrains?
terrain 2 - beach ( the shore terrain ) terrain 15 - shoreless water terrain 16 - old grass terrain 26 - sailable ( and walkable) ice terrain 27 - shoreless dirt 2 terrain 28 - walkable water ( bridge ) terrain 36 - shoreless snow dirt terrain 37 - ice beach ( wave effect? ) terrain 40 - koh-flag ground

Both kinds of walkable water, and Beach. Same as Julius. Oh the gold piles are from the gold in game. Oddly enough, gold consists of two slp's, the rock, and the gold. Just use the gold without the rock.

I think the wave effect is just ice by the way, Jatayu. Ice Beach is that ugly outline you get directly between ice and water.

No, ice beach is a separate terrain and so is beach. Why do you call it ugly? I think it looks like foam on a seashore.

We're talking about different things. I'm pretty sure the foam effect is just the appearance of ice next to beach. While "ice beach" is something else.
I could be wrong though.

Ice beach is an effect in appearance in the sense that it does not have it's own SLP nevertheless it is a terrain as defined in the genie file. Beach on the other hand has its own SLP - you can have any amount of terrain just beach.
The effects and mixing are probably governed by some other file- probably blendomatic.dat or something. There is a lot about terrain that we do not know.
