In this thread, post screenshots of your old abandoned failures and scenarios that will never be completed. Then we can all laugh admire your improvement. Maybe they'll even be something that other people might be able to do something with.
I'll try and find a few screenshots myself soon.

Do complete scenarios count I must have at least 10 things left. Some have been deleted.

Outside of the usual lack of terrain mixing, your early stuff wasn't half bad. I can't help but wonder if the screenshots we got weren't the whole story. Mine will be worse.

I have a few old screenshots lying, from 2003 to 2007. And I must say, Julius, what you recall as utter crap I would've thought was great back then. From 2003, a campaign called and about Esmeralda Verochey, or as I thought is was written; "S'meralda" . It was an ES-style campaign (though worse). From early 2004, part of a great (as in huge) campaign that later became base for ADOC. Although, the part where this scenario is has been cut out of the ADOC story nowadays . Late 2004. You might recognise it from my Karl XII campaign if you've played it. This was part of a great Danish military base, covering half of the country. This is from late 2005. By now I had just discovered that AoKH existed and started analysing (i.e. copying) some tricks from scenarios like Sabato Returns. The scenario, part of an ADOC sequel called The Brotherhood, is probably the best scenario I made before I started submitting scenarios to the blacksmith. But it's still quite bad. Now we enter "the modern era", aka post-AoKH-discovery time. From an unfinished RPG, started in early 2006. This was also set in the ADOC universe but you played from a different perspective. You would encounter Berleon (or Basse, me, as it was back then) but mainly to make you understand that it was the same universe, but a paralell story. I never got very far and it was probably my best attempt at a complete RPS. This is a shot from ADOC, made in middle/late 2007. Now scenarios have started to become funny to play and worth paying attention to. This and this are taken from a never-to-be-released project, based on a movie some friends and I made in 2004, our very first proper-ish movie. I never finished it but back then it was one of my finest pieces of design. Not sure what I'd call it nowadays.

I love that you thought the name was S'meralda, Basse. The Last Samurai Castle? Thanks, I guess. I like to think I learned pretty fast. I remember my first AoKH scenario with nostalgia even now. (The second on the other hand... Ouch) They were the most complete areas I could find. Even at the time I realised these were crap so I never got very far with any single thing. I had one even earlier file (from before I had AoKH files to compare with), which was called "Desert Explorers", but is now lost. It had a gigantic GAIA city in the middle and various large enemy armies scattered around (some of them were created all around you by triggers, I was a nasty 13 year old). The desert itself was brutally realistic, except it lacked elevation of any description. I don't know about the rest of you, but my very early stuff had some weird dialogue. If you have any particular gems, do post them. Also, like Basse, I had a megalomaniac campaign (since lost). Various armies and cities of the world were faced by my vastly superior forces. Oddly I pictured myself as a Monk unit, but I had a massive bodyguard of Mordreds so that's all right.

First thing I started after finding AokHAs you can see, I was crazy with mods then tooThe first thing I submitted (Liegnitz) was actually finished before I joined AoKH. I started this shortly after. It actually wasn't too pathetic, and it featured voice acting from SWS's own Mashek It sort of fell apart because I realized I could do better. Anything older would be on a different computer, so I will have to go find some of my really, really bad stuff. I mean really bad.

Please do. Speaking of Liegnitz, I hope you didn't find the review too harsh, but I did think it was over-rated, especially by Dantares.

He did seem ready to eat you over it though I am looking through stuff atm, trying to find the worst and first thing I made.. Hope it is around still.

So here's my stuff, opinions and thoughts please. Well I never made a proper map until I found HG, and I'm sure you've all seen my first map I ever made; "Tropical Warfare", quite embarassing to look back on...likewise with my works in the Blacksmith. Well the only work I have is unfinished projects, a lot better in quality I think than the tat that is under my name in the Blacksmith. (All mapshot btw, saves me on the multiple screenshots) So from my "The Man with no name" (at the Blacksmith if you really want to play it), from when I was back in roid, here is a few screenshot (this is '05 btw): i15.photobucket.com/albums/a377/Scud126/AoK/Shipwrecked.jpgi15.photobucket.com/albums/a377/Scud126/AoK/LoneTraveller.jpgi15.photobucket.com/albums/a377/Scud126/AoK/FloodVillage2.jpgi15.photobucket.com/albums/a377/Scud126/AoK/RuinedCity.jpgSo here from '06 is how far I got on the cringe-worthy titled "Roger and The Chalice of Mana" - your usual RPG fantsy I never got round to finishing: i15.photobucket.com/albums/a377/Scud126/AoK/MAP009.jpgAlso from '06 (a few months before the above) was how far I got on my entry to Wizardboy's failed "Underwater View contest": i15.photobucket.com/albums/a377/Scud126/AoK/MAP008.jpgHere's a random project I started in '07: i15.photobucket.com/albums/a377/Scud126/AoK/MAP006.jpgAnd here was my project I started a few months ago, it was going to be mostly a cutscence with interactive elements like puzzles with different outcomes. Hence the islands, you have to find a magical artifcaft to increasee your wizardly powers and on the mainland (not designed as you can see) you travelled from town and took clues on which island it is on And then you made your choice and the ending depended on what island you went to and if you got the artifact or not. This might be finished, who knows, as it's only a small little thing as wouldn't require major work. i15.photobucket.com/albums/a377/Scud126/AoK/MAP007.jpgBah, stupid Photobucket making the map-shots so you can't zoom in, I should of used xs.to, but hey, if you cna make out some detail there good for you.

We should make a file called "Assorted SWS Crap" and upload it to the Blacksmith.

Yes indeed! Overwhelm them with our trash I say! There's some really good screenshot's posted here I think. I don't think anyone has posted any of their really really bad stuff yet though (well apart from Basse) Yours were quite good Turty. I think it's interesting to see everyone's style as well. Everyone's style is quite distinguishable, which I think is a very good thing. I shall have a look and see what I can find that might embarrase me.

Good to see I'm not the only one who made a some LoTR scenarios. Well we begin this tale in the year 2000 when I first enter the editor. CeltlordsThis was actually just an edited randomly generated scenario so nothing special there. And the fact remains that even though I beefed up my town, I still lost against the computer. Four years pass by. Enter the first LotR scenario. 'Hobbiton'. Naturally enough you journey from Hobbiton to Bree. Full playability too.... well all 39 triggers of it. Have you seen anything similar to this before??BreeHere is even a link to the .scx if anyone can stand being bored for long enough. LinkMore later

Alright, I did some digging around and here's what I found. An attempt to make a multiplayer RPG.A house. The game was stopped because it wasn't quality.A multiplayer shooting game. Your standard third-person shooter.A city, and a great one at that.RubbleA desert.Where originality comes in the way of playability. ;D An old version of Mirage Island. All of the trees are green.A mountain pathway. It's a great game, really. Here's another part of the map. Yes, beautiful. This is what killed the game. A game set in present day, titled "The Renaissance Festival." Died due to characters without character.Part of my Cutscene. The game became too big. This map isn't mine, someone else gave it to me, but I've yet to upload it. It's finished and fully playable (and fun). If anyone wants to try it out, email me. Uses the original AoK.The other half of my Defend the Spot game. Now, time for some before-AoKH stuff. This is fully playable. Notice the overuse of flowers and bad placement of desert terrain. Yeah, it's that bad.My first attempt at the editor.Easily my favorite nostalgic map. It has absolutely no story and faulty triggers (hell, even the names of the enemies are "George W. Bush" and "Mr. Wiggles."A fun nostalgic map. It would be even better if I made my own AI.Any other scenarios are as big as a screenshot or less or they crash automatically. There, I've just emptied myself.

*Nods in agreement* So then, I'm off to dig up some old crap. Shouldn't be too hard considering I've made hundreds of maps over the years. Only the ones from 2005 and on have been worth submitting to the Blacksmith, plus Karl XII made in 2004. Oh well, I'll be back.

I've got loads of old crap, considering I just joined AOKH few months ago. I'm off digging. ;D Take Heed, Ye merry men! This was the second scenario of a Robin Hood campaign I once made, featuring puzzles, lots of enemies, a cliff maze, and lots and lots of ELEVATION. I managed to finish two scenarios of it anyway. This was back long ago, in about 2004. In this, you had to lead Robin and his merry men through the forest, encounter some puzzles, and blast your way through. In the cliff part, you had to reach the encampment at the other side.

Went through a couple of files, more to come some other time. The Story of Basse: the demo for this was my first release ever, and I did work on it for quite a good while, getting up to 200 triggers, my record at the time. Unfortunately I got tired of it, as well as realized I'd have to redo most of the triggers if I wanted the entire RPG to have the same trigger structure and be non-linear. Mapshot | A failed invisible farm for a duel | A jousting arena where you could bet money! Once. Gwyndlegard Version Zero: I started out designing Gwyndlegard on a 256x256 map. Unfortunately the editor lags and the game crashes whenever you try it, so I switched down to Giant size and started over. Which was fortunate, looking back at it. Working title. Not too surprising is it? | The pond (what the world that Cobra is doing there, I have no idea) | Gwynhill town.Wild Worlds Blood. My first and last blood map. It was unique for sure, but not as actionpacked as a blood should be. Plus it had effects like deer attacking your enemies' base. Mapshot. The Tales of Reynald de Chatillon: a remake of a much older campaign. I think Julius has seen this once. I never got very far and the map was cluttered with paths and flowers and crap to make it look "pretty". The mountain you see here is actually the cleanest bit. Opening scene | Reynald talking to himself | AWESUM MAP LOLThe Last Samurai Castle: the continuation of my ACSC06 entry, discontinued a week or so after the contest. I actually plan to remake this as a proper, playabale scenario one day, but for now you can admire the cluttered style I adapted in all the "awesome" projects I started making that never got released. Sam arrives in Japan | "This place is beautiful!" | Inprisoned | A not too shabby looking townQuazia Campaign: now we're getting to the really old files! One of the earliest proper campaigns I tried to make, a campaign about a small island nation that grew to become a huge colonial empire. Unfortunately my English was horrible and I hardly knew triggers (I used chats for all the dialogue) so most of the story was in my head and not in the actual scenario. Mapshot of scenario 1: "From a little island to a state" | The fabulous island of Qelaja/Quazia (I sort of switched between the names...)The slave from Jamaica: actually one of my more unique ideas from the old days. A slave is sent from Jamaica to serve his master back in Spain, and when he dies the slave becomes a free man and travels Spain to make a name for himself. Of course, I went on to other projects after the first scenario depicting the fantasicly boring journey across the Atlantic., Jamaica. Yes, with pine trees.Lost in the Woods: a scenario you might actually see one day, if I translate it into English. It has voice acting, silly intrigue and dialogue, and I made it when I was bored sick of making maps overly detailed and filling every inch with awesomeness (which I never managed anyway). The story is about me and a friend of mine, just like in the old days (i.e. the 60 scenarios which inspired ADOC and the Cajjsian Campaign ), except now with humour and no intention to conquer the world. Mapshot | Lost in the woodsThe Brotherhood: Scenario 15 of the sequel to the original ADOC story, named "Proper Metal". The story is too odd and complex to explain why that's the name, but anyway, this is Sweden, 500 years into the future when global warming helped by evil geniuses has turned the forests into desert. Don't ask for the details. MapshotThe Adventures of Basse: AKA one of the original ADOC campaigns. Here, I am stuck in a parody of Titanic and have to get off the boat (Botanic) before it crashes into an iceberg. MapshotThat's all for now folks.
