Alright everyone, I decided to post a bit about a scenario I'm working on here, as it is a bit less open than AoKH and I wanted to keep the ideas in it a bit of a secret so that everyone knows about it when it's released.
It's called Mercenaries "R" Us, and it's a type of DtS scenario. I'm not yet sure how well it will work and whether or not it will be fun, so I'm going to try to get opinions and advice here.
The main idea of it is that you are a hired soldier (Phil the Mediocre) who must protect various villages in a valley from assault by the Generic Oppressive People, who have been wreaking havoc for longer than anyone can remember. The gameplay revolves around protecting four villages located around the map from marauders. The catch is that your base is located in the center of the map, causing you to have to decide where to put your troops. Over time, it is almost a given that one village will be destroyed due to the fact that you can't spread your troops too thin.
Your main source of income is trade carts, which earn you much-needed gold. As long as you give some escorts to them, they'll be safe enough. You use this gold to hire men VIA trigger system (similar to the RISK unit-hiring system). You can get Genitours, Men-at-Arms, Spearmen, Scout Cavalry, Skirmishers, and Archers. I'm planning it so that they cost enough that you can get about 3 or 4 men with each trade cart delivery.
You can let up to three villages be destroyed, but each destruction will hamper your economy. In addition, some villagers will swear vengeance on you and harass you constantly (they can't die, but they have low attacks).
So, what do you think of the idea? Is it set up to be an epic disaster? A good game? Would you like to play it? Have any ideas to add? Spill your mind here. I'll also be adding screenshots eventually, and when it is finished I'll be asking for testers here.
