I'm shocked. In a good way. My last year's minigame competition entry and winner, the Tower of the Moon, recently received a 5.0 rating. From quite an experiensed reviewer too (FuzzyFurry). So, even if this is a minigame we're talking about , this is really quite a big personal achievement for me. I know TotM was appreciated thanks to the comments I got, but I hadn't imaged a 5.0. Anyway, enough of my boasting, you may ignore this and walk on as if nothing had happened if you wish

Congratulations, but I hope you'll appreciate my honesty in saying I don't think it deserves a 5. Unfortunately the review I have planned for it is going to look spiteful now. Although it's not a low rating.

Of course I do, I don't personally think it's worth a 5.0. A quite high score yes, but not that high. But that doesn't make me less happy about the rating it got . The only scenario of mine I would be disappointed for not getting at least one 5.0 is Gwyndlegard. It's not 5.0 quality now, but hopefully it is once it's finished. @sissi, thanks

Getting a 5 for a playable scenario is better anyway. Er, as in full length playable scenario.

Aye, but one for a minigame doesn't hurt

By the way, I think you can get a 5 for Gwyndlegard, but you'll need more work still. For example, if I were you I would reorganise the dialogue. It pops up all over the place, and it's that sort of annoyance that loses points.

5? I should play it then I am pretty resigned to not getting a five on my scenario that is almost done. The more you do the more chance someone will have something to pick at. But I don't really design for reviews, my stuff has always been weird. Sorry to hijack your thread with a discussion of perfect scores.

Nicely done! I have doubts that Gwyn will get a 5.0 though, even if it is 5.0 quality. This is simply because people are much more meticulous than before, and nowadays it is extremely hard to convince reviewers your scenario is perfect, unless you are Ingo, in which people will be throwing handfuls of fives your way no matter what is made. I have no doubt it will be good, though.

Congrats, Basse. I don't think it deserved a 5, but hey, at least someone does.

I don't really think reviews matter that much. It's subjective after all..

Aye Heh, I've come to that realization as well. It'll mean a big load of work, but I hope it's worth it Sad but often true. Hopefully I will be able to get at least one 5.0 review there, once everything is put as close to perfection as possible. It does often affect the number of downloads you get. Top notch, long, playable scenarios are some of the few files that can receive several thousand downloads. Then there's mega modpacks and expansions. And April Fools scenarios of course

If it's good very quality in all five categories you'll get a 5 from me. I think comparing scenarios to your personal favourites and then marking down, or marking down because not everything is super-slick, is a bad thing. Although I have to admit I like to make my 5 star reviews a rare currency. Not fair. WTWB has at least one review rating it below 5 stars.

Basse, you may well have read my review by the time you see this. Sorry to burst your bubble so soon, but I hope you don't find it too harsh.
By the way, I rated it higher than My Fort - My Empire. Personally I found ToM less entertaining, but according to review categories this is the result.

Don't worry, it's not too harsh, it really does point out the flaws I find when I look back at it. It's a shame I can't see these before I release things Much thanks still, I appreciate your opinion, even if it drags down the score a little (4.8 is still very high though, especially for a minigame.) I too think My Fort - My Empire was better than TotM, but I can't really complain on getting high scores can I? Besides, counting in downloads, people in general seem to like My Fort - My Empire more than TotM anyway; 846 > 395.

I like to think that a review which gives advice on how to improve is more useful than a review just full of praise. Although I have to admit praise is more fun!

Agreed. I'm not going to update TotM though, seeing as it was a ciompetition entry, I want to keep it as it was when it was judged.

Congratulations, Basse. On another note, I've given Footprints 4.6 as the overall score. I have yet to round up the whole review explanations though, so please be more patient, I'll make sure to send it before January ends.

Thanks Von, it's heart-warming. Hopefully Gwyndlegard will be able to reach just as high a score. I wonder what TJG would get? ;D

Subtle hints are all well and good. But unmasked hints are harder to miss.
