Do any of you guys know about this? Specifically what causes them and if they can be salvaged?

Sound files? I personally have problems with recorded games. Even sometimes when I've just played a game and try to watch it, it says "Cannot load that old recorded game"

No, I mean scenario files. But it seems AoK is haunted generally.

This is actually something I wanted to know about for a long time. Some scenarios will sit in my folder for months (like 30x30 templates) and it wasn't until recently that I noticed it was corrupt. Hooray for map copy.
I've noticed with some other game files that if you open the file with two different editors at the same time, occasionally, that will make the file corrupt, but I don't know if that has some sort of relation to .scn(x) files.

I remember one of my scenarios becoming corrupt, forcing me to fall back to a previous backup. I think it had something to do with the GeniED heaviness.

Way back I had a file get corrupted just in the editor. I was spamming a monastery area up with flowers and it crashed. It can still be edited, but always crashes two seconds after you try to test it.
Has anyone else had similar map faults?

I still have no idea what corrupted one of my scenarios. It seemed at first it was just some trigger, as it crashed when I entered a specific area, but then I tried to move elsewhere and it crashed when entereing areas completely unrelated to eachother. A mystery. I still have the scenario if anyone wants to crack their head at it?

Interesting. Trigger Studio has stopped working all of a sudden. It just crashes when opened. Apparently, it has a timestamp of December 31 of 1969. EDIT: Reinstalling didn't do anything but rebooting did. woot.
