I either really suck at AoK or I am missing something, cause after about ten attempts I can't win this DTS part I left off on. Is there a trick of where to place units, or am I just terrible

Fairly terrible I'm afraid. You've taken out the bridge? Are you defending the farming village? You'll need the food they give you to keep getting reinforcements. Are your archers getting killed too easily?

Hmm, I keep getting reinforcements, My archers are the last units to die, yep the bridge is out. Screw it now I am mad, I need to try this again

You only need to survive like... ten minutes. Are you using stand ground and defending the entrance?

Maybe I need to restard the scenario, I have been holding out more than 20 minutes with no results. Must be a screwed up save file, I'll try an older one.

That's odd. Sissi reported no particular difficulty with that section at all. Perhaps it's just a one-time bug?
Although, if you are slow to destroy the bridge, you have to defend for a lot more than ten minutes. You have to do it pretty much straight away.

Julius is right if I, ze noob, can do it then you can ! I just let absolutely all my units to defend the farmers and the town : you can easily micro to get to the bridge with only your 2 heroes, 1 scout to tease the guarding knights one by one(optional), and the petard, of course. ( and don't blow yourself with the bridge as I did first time, lol ...) Only, from time to time, check the new units in town, and set them to 'stand ground' for long range units and 'defensive' for infantry, because they have apparently a default stance of 'no attack' when they are created. And send them to block and defend the main entrance (N-E) regularly,( otherwise they remain in the middle of the village) in order to never let the ennemy enter the town. Check also the farmers, I sent there all the other mounted units and they managed on their own there, with defensive stance again. At least that's how I did it. Now it was on EASY, of course...

Slightly different from how I do it, but thinking about it, better. I normally get all the light cavalry (deocy) and a few spearmen (petard escort) killed when blowing up the bridge.

Just leave the petard near the monastery,or under the cliff, he doesn't need any escort, then. And retreat uphill (near the mill) everytime you've teased 1 or 2 knight-bridge-guards. Just be careful to take the time to heal, and run round the mill and out of ennemy's reach if you're too wounded . If you use 1 scout cavalry, don't let him fight, just retreat(Northwards) and let the 2 heroes do the dirty job from the little hillock near the mill, so you can re-use the scout for teaser again and again, until the coast is clear. And while the heroes heal are the good moments for you to check what's going on in town and with the farmers, and task your troops accordingly : it's quite easy to protect the town if you leave all of them there. PS: and what's "deocy" ? Is it "decoy"perhaps ?

No trouble, only tell me which one you call THE 'big battle', because there are several fights in your game which are big battles enough for me... (defending the manor, at the 2nd bridge, and the final one of course)
