I approve of the third design, as it looks the cleanest.

For the other two, you can get rid of everything in the sidebar if you want to. But I agree, the third one looks best. If only it had drop-down menus. They're quite quick in making new skins though so if a similar one with drop down menus comes around I'll check it out.

I agree.

Nah, we don't need drop down menus. They don't work anyway with Noscript installed.

T'would be very practical. Roll over "Projects" or "Members" and individual articles pop up. Of course, it works without them, but still.

I like the side bar with all the options. Add that to the third one and we'll be rolling.

Most of the options shown aren't very useful if you're making a traditional website as opposed to a blog, such as blog entry categories, most read blog entry etc. The blog section will work as the main page with the news and I'll add the News Archive to the side bar. There are plenty of features for the sidebar, but most of them are blogging-related. And probably won't be too useful. But yeah, if we find good use for them we'll add them up. I've begun working on the site, it's very early alpha though. You can visit if you really want to. stormwindstudios.wordpress.com/

blabla blablabla blablabla blablabla blablabla blablabla blablabla blablabla bla
AND THAT’S THE WAY IT IS.
Truly this will be renowned as one of the hallowed epics of our time.

;D Also, some suggestions: - An articles page, featuring all University articles by SWS members, Scud's terrain mixing giude thingy, Julius' expert gaming guides and whatever whatnot we want to write, serioius or for comedy.
- Everyone can edit the site rather easily, or at least post news. If you get/have a WordPress acount I can add you as writers and/or moderators.
- Yeah that's about it.

I'll add an articles section sometime possibly relatively soon. Also, the site now has three news posts.

Basse, any progress?
I registered a Wordpress account a couple of months back; perhaps I could lend a hand.

Okay, Basse, I'll try to take care of the released projects pages sometime today.
Should the files be sorted by author or all be in chronological order?
|
|
|
Post by Basse on Aug 7, 2010 15:14:06 GMT
Chronological. Also, only list the files released during the member's stay at SWS, all files before (and after) that aren't really SWS releases.

Basse, do you have a list of the dates of when members joined the team with you?
|
|
|
Post by Basse on Aug 8, 2010 11:11:33 GMT
Nope, but registering dates and the chronicles should help. I'll compile a list for you;
August 2006 - Basse, Scud, VonCorgath, Thunder etc. January 2007 - Julius, July 2007 - Andan, August 2007 - Mashek December 2007 - Turty, February 2008 - Jatayu March 2008 - Matty, October 2008 - Jas the Mace1, January 2009 - Jimmy, sissi, February 2009 - Powery, July 2010 - Watson.
Exact dates can be found in the news threads, and the recruitment thread.

Thanks Basse. Most of the released projects should now be linked, sorted by category and listed by author (I can try to list them by date released, though that may take some extra time). Removed the Recorded Games and RMS categories as I don't recall anyone making one of those. A tab has been added that links directly to the forums. I'm not sure how to go about the projects section. Also, if someone wants to take care of the articles section, which shouldn't be too hard (copy, new page, paste, link, repeat), post here.

Hi guys, I do a bit of web design myself (tho mainly graphics). I got dreamweaver cs5 and fireworks and all that stuff. I also use a really great host. Unlimited everything - bandwidth, downloads. Unlimited ftp accounts, pages, websites. NO adverts. Best of all it works really well with filezilla!!! and its 100% free. you can also have numerous websites for one user. basically its awesome. You can have any coding you want (obviously) so you could design the layout from scratch and even have your own php forums on there. P.s I kinda liked the old site where the members had little descriptions next to them. makes it more interesting than a list of names. Maybe for files and stuff you can have something similar to the blacksmith. cinematic, single player etc, utlities, tutorials...all in tabs at the top of the page where people can either view or download the files. Also has anyone considered moving to another game? I'm not saying move from aok. not at all. but perhaps the design team can look at its future in 5 years, and say...be the best design team for 0ad and Aok, or dawn of fantasy or something. I'm not suggesting any change. I've jst been reading this thread topics and going off whats been said before. Oh yea ps. my name is tetsuo not testuo

Nice to see that the site still is being updated. And someone make a Happy Birthday SWS Theme.

I wouldn't say that updating it once year is too active, but we'll see if I can get some news up now and then.
