Just a quick round up of the team news from the year just gone.
January: Following a nice email from Lord Basse, I joined the team. At the time a couple of departures and a complete lack of activity meant the team looked destined to die. It wasn't until April that I was even given access to the messageboard.
February/March: Dark times. Pretty much nothing happened, apart from the odd bit of tumbleweed drifting past.
April: At this time Thunder gave up the admin responsibilities, handing them over to VonCorgath. As can be seen from this thread, SWS seemed to be finished.
May/June: The team hobbled along.
July: Andan graciously accepted Lord Basse's invitation, and his arrival on the 1st of this month saw the long dead forums stirred into something *gasp* resembling activity.
August: With the team on the rise again, we decided to ask Mashek if he would be interested. To our surprise, he accepted. Lord Basse's flattering emails never miss their man. Also around this time we were kicking around ideas for a team project. The team saw the start of a promising future, heralded by the creation of a variety of beautiful and well... less beautiful forum skins. New member Mashek announced the start of the ACSC for this year, his remarkably popular contest.
September: This month saw the start of our rotation system for the admin responsiblity, beginning with me. Under my radical leadership there was much meddling and the forums saw many changes. Over at AOKH Mashek began the ACSC, and several members signed up.
October: Our newest member, Mashek, took control this month with his brutally repressive Mashek Liquidation. The forums took a decidedly Australian turn. The less said about that the better.
November: The results of the ACSC were announced, not without controversy. A good showing for SWS with three entries in the top five. This month also saw VonCorgath's Roman theme.
December: Andan's fantasy theme was cut short by a bout of real life trouble, and Lord Basse, unsurprisingly, took over. Turty, who had been visiting the forums for some time, was offered place and accepted. We await our newest member's future projects. The year ended with myself judging, and Lord Basse entering, the DTS contest at AOKH. And happily the year ended with a contest victory for SWS. Long may it continue.
As things stand:
We have, in my opinion, the strongest membership the team has ever seen. Although activity has slowed a little since Christmas this will surely be only temporary (we hope?). The team project has stalled, but is not yet dead. Contests brought much success to the team, and a number of well received projects were released. Currently no plans to extend the team are afoot, although if you are an interested visitor, we will consider any application. With luck, 2008 will bring even greater things to the team.
Cheers! *clinks glass*
