Everyone seems to suspect me. Hello, Julius. Haven't seen you here in quite a bit. Hectic University started again?

As soon as Joshua posts his results we can go to work on this.

Not until mid October actually, but I've moved into my rented house in the university town so there's more to occupy my attention.

3/5 people investigated me, and two results were negative. Why, oh why?

So basically the Mafia is the only one, and knows that everyone else is a policeman. What we police have to do is rule out the other police until only the mafia is left.(unless the mafia lies and admits to being a police too :S ).

Which is the case. All five have submitted results and we know that one of them is lying. To me, the greatest suspect seems to be Jatayu. This sentence is strikingly suspicious. ... Sorry, Jatayu!

Meh, Jatayu seems a bit suspect to me too. But let's try to use some logic first Okay so everyone has eliminated one role by now. What we have: Matt - Sane/Insane/Paranoid (watson =guilty) Julius- Sane/Insane/Naive (matt = innocent) Watson-Sane/Insane/Naive (Julius = innocent) Joshua- Sane/Insane/Paranoid (Watson = guilty) Jatayu- Sane/Insane/Naive (Watson = innocent) Now we try to see what happens when each person is considered scum. If Watson were guilty, Me and Joshua are your Sane and Paranoid cops. Jatayu is insane, Julius Naive. It works, we can't clear watson yet. If Julius were scum, Me and Joshua are the insane and paranoid cops. Jatayu is sane, Watson naive. Julius can't be cleared either. If Jatayu is the scum, Me and joshua are again insane and paranoid. Julius and Watson are sane and naive. If joshua is guilty, Julius watson and Jatayu all have other people as innocents. There can't be 3 correct results of innocent, as the only roles available are sane and naive. So joshua is our first cleared townie. If I were the big mafioso (*shifty eyes*), it gets a bit tricky, Jatayu and Watson are your sane and naive cops. Julius would then have to be insane, and it does still work as joshua would be paranoid. So I can't clear myself. So we now know the scum is one of four. Also, we can be pretty sure Joshua is dying tonight if we don't get this lynch right. I'm gonna go in for a random lynch. I know my own identity isn't scum, so it's a 33% chance for me. If we had no clues I would say maybe do nothing but Jatayu is pretty suspicious. Iff we lynch him and he is a townie, the scum will take out Joshua tonight almost certainly, leaving me, Julius, and Watson. We already have 3 results on watson, one on me, and one on Julius. With another night of investigations we should be okay either way. Plus, this is a windows mafia. When in doubt, treat everything like a virus. Lynch: Jatayu

Yes it is. And you better pray he's the mafia; YOU'RE as good as dead otherwise, because you're the only verified townie yet..

This morning, the watermarks grew and became more apparent from his coffee mugs as Dave started to look through the help files to troubleshoot this dilemma. While he Googled for answers, the corrupt file took notice; one of the important files for Netscape was deleted, forcing him to use Internet Explorer 4.0! During his time on the internet, Dave came across a website that mentioned regedit.exe as a very nasty virus, one that would make ILOVEYOU blush! regedit was dragged to the Recycle Bin and was emptied, but it was not until after the dreadful deed that Dave realized that the website was completely satiric. A BSOD occurred three seconds later. regedit.exe (Jatayu) has been deleted. He was a pro-town cop.Night will begin in 24 hours.

I've used it a few times.
Night doesn't begin until tomorrow; I'm giving you all this time to discuss with each other about people to investigate.

Ah, of course. I should have read your post more carefully. In that case I'm going to draw attention to an appalling piece of logic used today.
The initial attack on Jatayu was made by Watson, based on Jatayu asking whether it was mandatory for the cops to tell the truth. You have to ask why he would have asked such a question if he were the mafia. Mafia don't care all that much about whether the declared investigations are genuine or not, as they already know everyone's alignment. Even if he did want to know whether cops could lie he could easily have asked the question of Turty in a PM rather than draw attention to himself. It was a poor reason to be suspicious and it's unfortunate that there was less than 1h40m between it being mentioned and the lynch being pushed through which meant I didn't have a chance to argue against it.
Having said all that, I await tomorrow to see whether the investigation results confirm it as a deliberate ploy or a genuine mistake. But for now I consider it a black mark.
As for investigations, I intend to investigate myself seeing as the rules allow it. That's the traditional way for cops to validate their sanity, as it checks it against known info. The rest of you should probably make your own decisions, as we don't want the mafia influencing the town's investigation targets.

And who doesn't use regedit.exe? It's the one saving grace of windows.

There were a couple other things he said that made me suspicious. He mentioned PMing turty, and it seemed more likely he would have questions regarding a mafia role than cop, where all he can do is ask to investigate.
Also, I just kicked it off with a vote for Jatayu not expecting to get two more that fast. In retrospect I should have just said I suspected him without voting. The fact I got no other arguments could be suspicious except that no one here is terribly experienced. Joshua's been cleared already anyway.

Hmmm? Something interesting to think about:
Watson spurred the lynching of Jatayu, was reported guilty 2 out of three investigations, somehow(might have) knew that if we didn't lynch Jatayu I'd die, and is doing a good job to try and stress the fact that he's a police. ;D
I say(even if I get lynched) lynch Dr. Watzius based on these facts/investigations.
Edit: I still don't understand. If there's one mafia(and he knows it), then how hard can it be to pick whom to kill in the night. If he's the only one then it should be easy for him to choose whom to kill seeing as he's the only one. Also, what are scum?

No editing, joshua. Scum are all non-town roles. In more complicated games it can be tricky to choose who to kill as the scum will want to kill off pro-town roles like Sane Cops and so have to figure out who has those roles. But they also need to worry about whether their target will have protection from a Doc. In this game however this doesn't apply so much. Matty, I had less objection to your stance, as you stated it was largely a 33% chance from your point of view. So I am more suspicious of Watson who actively pushed suspicion towards Jatayu for no good reason. Also I'm revising my earlier plan to investigate myself tonight, and instead plan to investigate joshua. This has the same benefit to me in figuring out my sanity as I am equally certain of joshua's innocence as my own, but gives the same advantage to the rest of the town.

You're making a mistake... To clear the stance of my role, I'm investigating Matty tonight. If he is innocent as Julius says, then I can say I'm going to have some very interesting results.. Sorry Josh, it looks like you're dead this night. Good game..
