How do you get monks to stay still, not heal people and not hunt for relics?

You could try creating a looping task object trigger and don't specify a location.

Which is somewhat logical, and I'm astonished why someone like Julia would ask such a question.
Unless he wants the monk to stay normal, and not half-moving. IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT?

Yes, I want my monks to look like they don't have 30,000 Volts running across them.

Perhaps you could change the monk's LOS to 1 and make sure the player can't see any relics to stop the relic chasing and have the monk unit not allied with you to prevent healing.
Otherwise, change a different unit's graphics to a monk.
In theory, that should work, but I haven't tested it.

Surely there's a way that doesn't involve data editing? If not, I'll have to find one.

One method I have often seen is to wall in the monk ( with rocks and trees etc. ) and put a relic outside. He will try to get the relic ( but can't ) and not convert/heal.
