Personally I don't think so. We've had a few, like the Fantasy comp and the mini-game comp, and possibly a couple others, but I don't reacall any except the mini-game comp ever getting anywhere. They all got off to a good start and then died.
So no I don't think there has been too many. IMHO competitions add a bit extra spice to the forums.

If we continue as we said, we should be starting off again now, as the ACSC has ended. We'll be working from time to time, whenever we have the time

I believe Crystal Crown wants us (me and JackalRat etc) to get more competitions out there, as it helps to forward the community and get things designing, even if contestants don't get anything done. Heck, even oliver asked me to get the Pretty Town happening. I'll talk to Jackal Rat about it. However, I doubt I'll host any competition for a while, need the break, lol. And I don't really want to judge, as though I may have the experience, and people will most likely rely on me as they always seem to these days, I'd rather like to just enter a competition myself for a change. I also believe Tanneur will be getting the Historical contest up next year or something, which should be a treat.

Ooo!! Ooo!! Let me host the Pretty Town contest!! There hasn't been that many contests, really. I don't see how you could have too much. Oh, and by the way Basse, I have a few ideas for poll, but I have to leave for school now, so I'll post/email/give/hand-to-hand give them to you.

Yupzors. In the top right corner of the screen you'll see the "You have X messages, Y are new" etc.

Ah, I see. This place has so many things it's hard to keep track of all of them! [w]I say make it simpler, half of the things here I don't even understand what they do.[/w]

Personally, I felt that there were too many competitions since the day I joined (about the middle of the year if I'm not mistaken). But it's not a bad thing at all, it's a good thing, if only it wouldn't force me to postpone my current work and start concentrating on the contest! Anyway folks, if you plan to host a competition, find a judge that you're pretty familiar with. Don't just agree to anyone's request to be a judge, and don't assign a judge that you think would rate something biased from the guidelines.

Oh, and Basse, I've got an idea for next week's poll. How about, 'who's the designer that influences and inspire your work the most?'

That's a good poll idea, I don't know who it is for me.
About judging, in my opinion it's best to try and get a seasoned reviewer. They are experienced and should be good at removing any bias and personal interest, also they tend to be some of the more respected designers.

Agreed, though most of the respected designers have already left. I wish if they don't design any more, they still willing to be a judge for any competition.
Anyway, while seeking for judges, remember that past mistakes are always the best teacher. Look back to the competitions previousy held and study their plus-es and minus-es.
