I tried the wine emulator for Aok on linux, and what do you know , it worked. Well, sort of. Here are some pics. There are obviously a lot of 'differences' esp. text and fonts. It worked for other games too.. Bwahaha I can finally get rid of Windows.. well not quite. It runs exceedingly slow, which means it's only good for making screenshots or mods. Aok for the first time in months for me.

Looks nice Jatayu. What exactly is this 'wine emulator'. Is it a bit like DOSBox but instead of emulating a 486 it emulates Windows?
I can see what you mean about the text, but it looks as if the whole dipsplay and graphical display of the game appears to remain much the same. Would this be a fair assumption?

Yes, it is like Dosbox. Actually it's not an emulator, it just translates windows OS commands to other operating systems , like linux. ( in fact wine stands for Wine Is Not an Emulator ). It can be used to run Windows executables on linux.
The display is more or less the same, but it just enormously slow, especially with large nos of troops. Like playing with huge lag. Cutscenes run fine though.
Just a geeky thing to post.

Are you running a no-CD crack?
I have AoK running under Mac (sorta, I need a crack to have it launch, so it won't happen until I can find the CD that has that).
