Greetings gents. Well as I was gloating over my screenshots folder, methought I had a spark of brilliance so I decided to make this thread. Do any of you have some screenshots that you think are just plain awesome - or nice? Well please feel free to post them here. They don't have to be your own, you may have others that you think are fantastic too, or there may be one that strikes something in you and captures your imagination. So to get this rolling, here's one of my favourites which as you may recall was an entry of mine to the CSCII. (not to be confused with ASCII ) A CastleIt's by no means perfect, but there's something about it that I just love. EDIT: Whoops, just realised how similar this is to the old "Eye Candy" thread.

I like all of them, particularly the Winter shot. I would post mine, but they're mostly either on my other computer or readily available in the CSC.

I'm a big fan of Militia Mouse's CSC entries, either those which made it in time or failed to comply with the deadline. Specifically his infamous Waterfall depiction.

That one's really awesome. Out of my own screenshots, I have a few I'm quite fond of. And because I have time, I'll add comments to them all The hermit's island[/url]. Apart for the fact it's the first shot I won the CSC with two years ago, even today I can't find many flaws in it, which is very rare when I look back at my older work. The few I find would be that the sea is a little bland, the brown trees and the pine don't fit in too well, and the ice behind one of the palms could be removed Erik was here. Didn't get a single vote in the CSC that time, but it's an old joke I've always been fond of. Yokohama port. One of my best night shots. Too small and too much text though. X marks the spot. Hehe, I thought I was smart making this one, but people seemed to mistake the X for terrain mixing. Well, at least Dantares did The monastery. Definately one of my best shots, at least in my opinion. Paradise. One of my personal favourites, although it failed miserably in the CSC. It's odd how the ones I really like rarely win. Anyone who's been bothered to find the hidden meanings in this shot by the way? Time zones ruin everything. Took 15 minutes to set up and shoot, and yet it won, if only by one vote. These are only from the CSC (I knew the archives would come in handy one day). I might put a few more up some day.

The Erik one was really great, indeed. To think that it didn't even get a single vote...
I'm also fond of some of Fatty's entries, especially the Monastery one. It was a pretty one, and I'm a sucker for such things.

I should make a remake of that one sometime I seldom find Bryce's shots really good, actually. They're not bad, but I don't think they reach high quality very often. Or maybe it's just that I lost to him in the Monastery week

Antonio Christeras, lol.
I have only entered the CSC 4-5 times, My New World winner was one of my favorites. I have a few in my folder I will dig up.

One of the missile-type units you can unlock with GeniEd is a grey circle. Put two on the same spot and they become black. Use AoKTS to have lots close together, and you have black terrain.

Oh, dear! I'm completely disheartened when I read such explanations ... Btw I have a question : Is it necessary for map-designers to use all those complicated tools ? Is it still allowed to use nothing more that an enhanced editor ? Because I just can't do otherwise still... I'm a noob !

Of course it's not required. I don't use (m)any of the fancy advanced tricks either.

Particularly like the fishing village nI, it's very nice! And the black terrain is always a stunner.

I got bored of black terrain after The End screenie (which was only imitating the end with the black squares, right nI?)

It still does make some nifty asphalt though, although using white and brown road is a much simpler solution

Then you obviously have failed, Jimmy, because those aren't even close to ugly.

I was going to say that it was bland. I... really don't know what to say about those pictures, though, except, turntablism, but not quite?

I'm kinda trying to make a ghetto-type city, and it was originally a sea of badly-placed Dark Age houses. So I spruced it up a bit. I'll post more later.
[q]turntablism[/q]
I'm sorry, but I don't know what that means. Something to do with Turntables?

You know, the bridge + TWAL combo works best when the bridge is on a higher level of elevation.
