As above. I personally feel that flower beds are vilest part of the editor.
And is this forum the right place to put this?

You forgot beach terrain.

None of them, including beach terrain. When used right, they all look good.

Clearly he means when used to excess.
Skeletons because they stack up in little piles in a grid pattern.

Yeah, as far as scenario designing is concerned, most designers think that Flower Beds look pretty when placed under trees, where they can't be viewed at all (Which is a good thing). Also why I'm not too fond of crasher's map design at certain points.

I have to say, Flowers 1, 2, 3 and 4 are the greatest pieces of eyecandy.

That doesn't look too bad considering, it blends in with the quality of the rest of the shot. But okay, if I'm going to pick one that looks the worst in large ammounts, I'll go with flowers. Not because they actually look much worse than other things used in too large quantities, but because it's more common to overuse flowers than to overuse skeletons and 1x1 rubble. Which can be put to good use actually, as sticks for a fire. Lance O Lot's 'The Assassin' is a good example. It is also the only example I can think of that uses that trick, so it's nothing major.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't, although the style is quite similar, which leads me to think it's Turty. If I were making it I'd have covered up the flowers a bit more and wouldn't have left the trunks of the trees on the right like that.
That use doesn't have the grid pattern effect. I think BJ used it first in one of his utilities.

Honestly even used quite a bit I have no issues with any of those things. Assuming of course that you aren't just laying skeletons for fun in highly populated towns or something retarded. Wild horses can be great. Place 5-10 and have triggers to make them run as a pack when people come near, etc. If there was one thing that annoyed me, it would be gold. Gold is good in piles in rocky places where there is actually maybe real gold. Just scattered, not so cool. EDIT: If there is one piece of eye candy that's overused, it's flower1-4. There everywhere in every scenario, including some of my own.

I remember you going on about this about a year ago; that pretty much killed my Piles of Gold habit, and I thank you for this. ;D
Hey Matt, did you hear about this Oak Forest Tree unit? I heard everyone's using it everywhere.

Bugger. The Oak Forest Tree is so yesterday. Bring on the pine tree, the king of trees. Oh, and also Jungle trees rotated to their bushes. Obviously a sea of green flowers would be horrible in a scene, but it goes well with Pine Trees. Heh, I really did think of including it at first. There is a large bolt (Unlocked via GeniED) which serves a better looking base for the fire. Obviously I don't mean any disrespect to the designer. I'm just looking to stress on the overuse of Roman ruins. Off-topic: Today I downloaded A Call To Arms, and I find that it crashes upon start. Anyone has the same problem?

Well, now that you mention it, I've tried it only once. EDIT: It doesn't crash the second time. Also, what do you people think of mixing different trees? Not mixing the whole lot of them, but matches. Like, Oaks and Pines go well.

I'm incredibly fussy about trees. I almost always want my forests to look green which throws out all the rubbish like the blue and leafless pines and a good number of the forest trees. I like the way this looks but it does mean my forests lack variety and are time consuming to make. In my HSC entry I couldn't be bothered and just used forest terrain. I do like to include bamboo in my forests though although it doesn't make much sense I think it looks good.

Certain palm forest trees look fine when mixing with oak/pine/bush. I don't think I've touched the forest terrain in a few years, actually.

Actually, i think a lot of designers use them very little. I mostly use pines mixed with the lettered trees at the end of the gaia list. The Oaks can't be map copied, and I like to map copy forest, rotate, then paste. I'm lazy like that.

...Oh wow. I'll have to disagree with this statement. Palm trees just don't go with the other green trees. Concerning jungle, I'd say that the dark green bush > Light green bush. Also, given the frequency with which SWS members use it, we should call it our trademark.

I usually place trees one by one and then rotate them to taste. If I need to cover a large area I'll map copy a pine and then put down some of every rotation I like and then fill in with oak trees which is much quicker. This method is why you almost never see large areas of forest in my scenarios.

I try to mix the two evenly, of course depending on what looks best for the situation, but I think I use more of the light bushes because they stick out less than the dark ones.

The light bush is ripped off the top of tree D I think it is. The dark one is the top of tree TD. When I recognized it I felt that these two bushes would never be as cool again.

I still like both of them. Tree D can be used for savannah design, for example. I know that isn't done very often at all, but I had good use for it when I made "A Christmas Story".
