All give a hearty welcome to our newest member, matty. You all already know him, so all that remains is to wish him a productive and enjoyable time here. As you can see matty we're pretty laid back here, and we also have a thing for giving the forum a theme, which changes every month. Just have a wander round and see how things are, you'll find you can get into the member forums at the bottom now too. Why, our team is becoming quite a crowd.

That quickly? Mmmmm... And it's not really a crowd, it's only 6-7 active members anyway even now. But I do think we've got the best and most productive team in these days. Welcome aboard.

Thanks guys EDIT: who is responsible for the Robin Hood names? Some of them are pretty clever. It is humorous, I actually watched a couple episodes of BBC's robin hood recently.

What ho! 'Tis Matty! I guess that would be the bloke with the red coat. And yes, I love that show! I just wish they had Friar Tuck in there already... Aside: Methinks Julius still has a couple tricks up his sleeves.

This community is starting to get crowded by such talented designers, and I'm starting to realize that I'm just a rotten apple sitting among the juicy ones. Anyway, to quote the title of this thread, Welcome, Matty! I'm sure you already know me, so there's no need for a reintroduction.

The only reason they're juicy, is because they went rotten before you.

Stop being so overly self-critical! You're all great_designers, but in often very different ways. Of course we all have much to learn, no one is - or will be - perfect, but saying you're bad_designers is just wrong. You're not. Saying you're a go_od designer is nothing bad, boasting about being the best is, and I haven't seen anyone of you do that

Curses. Everyone is learning to bypass the censor.... What you say Basse is absolutely true, and well explained.

Being self effacing is always more palatable than self aggrandisement though.

Saying you're a go_od designer is nothing bad, boasting about being the best is, and I haven't seen anyone of you do that I couldn't agree more. For example, how I wish I had Basse's insane work ethics when it comes to design. We all have something going for us and some things that we can improve in. Andanu, you have released more stuff than I have, including the longest Cutscene in AoK. Stop beating yourself up, you are reminding me of well...me actually. I have issues so don't be like me, or you won't be able to design anything and then not hate it.

I have the "hate old work" thing too. Particularly my first scenario and ACSC06. But you can see why. Maybe we could all give each other tips on how to improve?

Haha. I'm just being humble and all. Of course I'll be trying to keep up with the inner greatness of the team and not beat myself up if I fail. This is one of the main reasons we form a team, isn't it? I can always think about the ways to improve by looking back at the reviews given to my works, but indeed, it'd be nice if we start a topic of some sort here, which serves as a place for sharing advices and ideas.

That's wonderful too. Like Julius said, it is much better to receive praise with humility than to prat about like an arrogant fool.
Well, as for assisting our fellow members in their designing, how would you like to pursue it? We could (should) do it now in the various project threads that arise, or would you prefer to have a thread of singular nature where we offer our suggestions? Such as a 'Design Suggestions Thread".
We can always offer general advice as obviously every member has greater skills in some areas than others, but sometimes advice centred on a particular design or idea can be more helpful.
